In a trip to Scotland, I traveled to many castles and landmarks in my books. Here are a few that relate to The Highlander's Bride Returns.
The story begins at Dunrobin Castle with an escape through a secret passageway that leads out to a cliff.
A castle has stood in its location since the 13th century. This castle has been home to the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland since it was built
The gardens were laid out in 1850.
In my book, I imagined the sea leading up to the cliff. You can see the North Sea just beyond the gardens.
Most of my book takes place at Huntly Castle.
Huntly Castle was initially built in the 12th century by the Earl of Fife.
In the early 1300s, the earl's line became unfaithful to Robert the Bruce and the castle was given to the Gordons.
The background picture on the book cover was from my visit.
The book ends back at Dunrobin Castle with an escape through a dungeon window where they drop down to a hill. You can see to the top right of my head is a barred window.
The barred window.
